- Funding all travel costs for a teacher to participate in a CHARACTER COUNTS! exchange in Joinville, Brazil. CHARACTER COUNTS! is an education program based on six pillars of character— Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship — for positive decision making. Educators and judges from Brazil have visited Botetourt on two occasions since 2005. Our Foundation funded a teacher, accompanied by a school board administrator, traveled to Brazil and participated in exchange activities November 3 through November 20, 2010.
- Dual Enrollment courses provide students with the opportunity to earn college credit for advanced classes taught at both high schools. The Foundation provides need-based college tuition assistance for eligible students enrolled in these classes.
- Provided tuition assistance, as needed, for high school students participating in Advanced Placement classes.

- Underwriting the Books2Bricks project in fall 2005 to provide an educational opportunity for Botetourt’s high school students while at the same time raising money to help fund the many other educational projects to which the foundation has recently contributed. Books2Bricks enlisted the help of dozens of individuals and businesses who donated time, material and expertise in working with the building trades students at Botetourt Technical Education Center (B-TEC) to build a new home, the first house construction project of its type west of Charlottesville. That home was completed in 2007.
- Funded the week-long 2014 Chesapeake Bay Summer Enrichment Program, which offered sixth- and seventh-grade students the opportunity to experience the Chesapeake Bay up close by living completely “off the grid” on Fox Island for three days and two nights while they set crab pots, dredged for oysters, explored marsh grasses and tidal pools, went canoeing, explored an estuary, conducted water quality testing, went proggin’ and learned conservation techniques. Students documented their experiences in a field journal and with cameras and videos. When they returned to school, they created educational scrapbooks of their experience, along.
